Leftover Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients:
Shredded turkey
Onion and garlic
Spices, cumin, paprika and chili powder
Tomato sauce
Chicken broth
Romaine lettuce
Desired toppings
You don’t need to add all the toppings listed (I’m just known to always load my tacos up), but I’d say the cheese and tomatoes are a must – and the avocados just make them that much better.
Then if you want to add more healthy fillers you could toss in some black beans or corn. These tacos are so incredibly delicious.
How to Make Taco Lettuce Wraps
These couldn’t be easier to make. All you need to do to prepare these is:
Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add onion and saute 2 minutes. Add turkey and garlic, season with salt and pepper, and cook, tossing and breaking up turkey occasionally, until cooked through, about 5 minutes.
Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, tomato sauce and chicken broth. Reduce to a simmer and cook about 5 minutes until sauce has reduced.
Serve mixture over lettuce leaves with desired toppings.
Tips and Tricks For Making Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps
You can make the filling in advance and store it in the fridge or freezer (minus the toppings).
Optionally use ground chicken or extra lean ground beef instead of turkey.
For a spicer option try adding hot sauce, use spicy chili powder or red pepper flakes.
If you can’t find Romaine lettuce then iceberg lettuce will work well.
